A 4700 square foot, early 1900's stone house in Spencerville Ontario. 40 minutes from Ottawa and 3.5 hours from Toronto.
The property is located on 1/2 acre with a small barn on site. The walls have exposed stone and all of the wood is untouched. A lucky find!
The history of the house is very fascinating as it was built by the town doctor, Dr. Pember Alton MacIntosh, whose great-grandfather, John MacIntosh, discovered the MacIntosh apple in 1811, hence the house is called the MacIntosh House. Rumour has it that there is an enclosed tunnel in the basement where Al Capone ran rum during prohibition.
The MacIntosh house has an attached 3-bay garage that was previously a cider house. It has its own foyer, commercial refrigerator, heat, A/C, wood-burning fireplace, and 200 amp panel.
